First Piece: Final

After careful consideration and asking other people’s opinion i decided to go for the slightly blue-tinted background i was originally thinking either this one or the one without any colour but majority of people i asked agreed with me so it stuck. Here is how the final one looks in the end.

This is what i was finally happy with. I adjusted the techno brushes as i felt it was one-sided as they were both to the right hand side, so i moved the top one to the left hand side and left the bottom one to the right, but then after judging it didn’t seem right so i put the top one back on the right and moved the bottom one to left hand side and after judging i felt it was a better suited that way.

Experimentation

Reading throughly through the link i previously posted i was able to choose specific colours for experimentation narrowing down to exactly what colours could work well and link to the topic that i am focusing on which is the Windows Official Magazine.

Green – is an earthy and calming color that can also imply intelligence also. It also has the implications of money with it but typically only in the US. Typically green is associated with the following emotions: earth mother, physical healing, monetary success, abundance, fertility, growth, renewal, youth, stability, endurance, freshness, nature, environment, tranquil, refreshing, quiet, hope, immortality, health, healing, good luck, renewal, youth, jealousy, trees, grass, vigour, growth, harmony, envy, calm, contemplation, and friendliness. When thinking about green you should be thinking about money, health and tranquility.

Yellow – is said to stimulate mental activity and be one of the primary colors of attention. When using yellow it is best to not use it too lightly or loses it’s stimulating effects. The typical emotions that are derived from yellow are: intelligence, light, cooperation, sunshine, joy, happiness, intellect, energy, cheerfulness, optimism, purity, warmth, honor, caution (only when used in small amounts), cowardice (although only within the last thirty years or so), imagination, hope, summer, philosophy, uncertainty, restlessness, glory, and enlightenment. When you are thinking of yellow you should be thinking of the sun, religion and caution signs.

Blue – is the color of wisdom and trust, it is also the favorite color of over 2/3 of the world and is least disliked by most cultures. This may be because the sky is blue and the water reflects the sky making most things seen on the planet blue. It is generally associated with technology and progressive creativity. The most common feelings that people have with blue are: communication, wisdom, protection, spiritual inspiration, calmness, reassurance, fluidity, water, sea, creativity, peace, calming, higher thoughts, the sky, devotion, progress, freedom. trust, loyalty, intelligence, reassurance, artistry, compassion, sadness, tranquility, confidence, security, cleanliness, order, comfort, cold, technology, intellect, ideas, sharing, empathy, relaxation, affection, inspiration, friendship, patience, contemplation, infinity, harmony, non-threatening, and dependability. When thinking about blue you should think about the ocean, technology, and tranquility.

After reading the article on the website the three colours that would mainly fit in with the redesign were blue, yellow and green. I thought i could use  blue because the colour is generally associated with communication, technology and relaxation three things my magazine can be focused. Seen as i’m redesigning the Windows magazine (Windows PC – technology magazine) i want the quantity of text to offer a sort of relaxation for the reader because some of the pages will have a lot of text and information to process so with the correct use of blue that could help spur the viewer to keep reading regardless of the amount of text because the colour evokes relation. As the magazine also offer tutorials on some pages communicating correctly with the audience is vital and i feel again with the correct use of blue i will be able to achieve this.I thought yellow because the colour is associated with intelligence, energy and enlightenment the magazine offers an insight to the technicalities of a Windows PC which enlightens the reader with useful mechanical information to operate a PC. Some form of intelligence is required to at least run a PC so with the correct use of the colour yellow the reader can feel somewhat intelligent for understanding what is written in the magazine.Green can also be used because the colour is associated with money, health and friendliness to own a Windows product clearly depicts that the owner has some sort of money available to purchase windows products. The magazine is also very user-friendly in the sense that during the tutorials they explain and describe solutions for possible software problems but also support the description with an images and screen dumps in the likelihood that an amateur doesn’t fully understand the terminology being used.

I felt that with the correct use of these colours (blue, yellow and green) they would do justice to my redesign because the selected colours promote a sense of feeling that can hopefully be embraced when seen in the redesign.
